Grid Operations
Investments
We plan our investments according to the changes in the power demand in our region, the needs of our distribution grid, and the changes in supply-and-demand that the distribution system may face in the future. Based on these plans, we invest in capacity improvement, innovation, technology and other fields necessary. As such, we follow these investments according to our investment budget approved by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), and regularly report our investments to the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, EPDK and TEDAŞ (Turkish Electricity Distribution Corporation).
Maintenance and Repair
At Adm Elektrik, we continue to provide maintenance and repair services 24/7 with our experienced Failure, Repair and Maintenance teams located at different locations in our service areas. We aim to provide uninterrupted high-quality power by reducing the time and number of failures in our service area, through the maintenance and repair procedures carried out by our teams in line with the reports by consumers, data from automation systems and the findings obtained during maintenance work.
We carry out these maintenance activities according to our annual maintenance plans and based on preventive and predictive maintenance principles, making the most of the technologies available. As such, we use unmanned aerial vehicles to view our power transmission lines from above and quickly identify the maintenance work required.
While a maintenance procedure is underway, we cut the power off obligatorily for purposes of occupational health and safety, according to the limits allowed by legislation. We use our corporate website (https://www.admelektrik.com.tr/en/information-center/planned-maintenances), as well as written and visual media to inform our users about the planned outage at least 48 hours before we cut the power off. Besides, all users making an application through our call center are informed about planned outages via SMS or email.
Lighting Services
We regularly carry out planned maintenance and improvement work for city lighting. In this regard, we periodically check the lighting systems to replace those with expired service lives, and to perform maintenance on those whose service lives are still continuing. Furthermore, we establish new lighting systems within our investment budget approved by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority in line with the Decisions by the Lighting Commission (https://www.admelektrik.com.tr/en/information-center/legal-notices). In addition to these, we monitor and conclude the lighting failure reports, notifications and complaints sent by our consumers to our call center (186), corporate website, WhatsApp or BİP lines, i.e. our written and telephonic communication channels.
Customer Operations
Meter Reading
At Adm Elektrik, we read consumer meters once in a calendar month, i.e. at intervals of 25 days minimum or 35 days maximum. This is considered a monthly reading. If the company fails to read the meter due to the force majeure stated in Article 35 of the Electricity Market License Regulation, or due to severe weather conditions, seasonal use and so on, this will not be considered a violation of the monthly reading procedure. In places of use covered by this scope, meters are read at least twice a year.
All meters of consumers located in our service area are read by our meter reading teams according to a certain plan, while meters covered by the Automated Meter Reading System (OSOS) are read remotely by the OSOS system.
Our consumers are either delivered a reading notification by the company, or get this notification through electronic means if they request so. Information found in the reading notification can also be drawn up in the bill/payment notice.
Reading notification is drawn up in writing. If the consumer prefers, the reading notification can be sent to them through permanent data storage.
Cut-off and Restore
As per the relevant legislation, power distribution companies are responsible for the cut-off and restore of power in places of use. In places of use, power is cut off if:
- The consumer terminates the bilateral agreement or retail sales contract and evacuates the places of use,
- The consumer does not fulfil their obligation to pay for the power they consumed,
- Illegal power use is detected, or the obligations are not fulfilled after illegal and unlawful power use is detected.
- Power is restored within 24 hours in residential areas, and in 48 hours in non-residential areas.
Meter Supply Change and Calibration
At Adm Elektrik, we offer services in the supply, installation, maintenance and operation of meters in our service area. Accordingly, we supply and install the meters for our customers who request a new connection, as well as removing the faulty meters of existing consumers and supplying and installing a new meter with same properties. Consumers are not charged for any of these procedures. Furthermore, according to the provisions of the Law No. 3516 on Measurements and Adjustment, meters who have completed the 10-year stamp time are removed and replaced with an identical meter by our company without any fee.
As per Article 51 of the Electricity Market Consumer Services Regulation, our consumers can ask for a meter check if they encounter a meter failure or suspect the measurement precision of the meter. Our company fulfils these requests as per the provisions of the Law No. 3516 on Measurements and Adjustment, i.e. removes and replaces the meter in 10 business days upon meter check request by the consumer. If after the review it is found that the meter records consumption correctly, the meter check fee shall be paid by the requestor.
In our service area, our company is responsible for installing, replacing, maintaining and operating the meters. Therefore, it is forbidden to interfere with the electricity meters or the measurement system, except by the personnel authorized by our company. We would like to emphasize that if this rule is not obeyed, legal and/or penal procedures shall be initiated due to the act of “illegal electricity use” defined in Article 42 of the Electricity Market Consumer Services Regulation.
Fighting Illegal Electricity Use
We never cease to fight the use of illegal electricity, in order to supply safe, efficient and uninterrupted power. To this end, we perform continuous field audits, as well as carrying out technological infrastructure processes to track current and voltage values and identify illegal electricity use through remote grid monitoring and control systems. Furthermore, we aim to detect illegal electricity use by comparing the consumption data of consumers and consumption data of transformers through big data analyses.
Decentralized Energy Resources
Decentralized energy resources are rapidly increasing on a global basis in recent years. Extensive advantages offered by these resources comprising of decentralized production connected to the system from the distribution grid level, demand side engagement and meter-back battery systems play a key role in facilitating the integration of renewable energy sources into the system and increasing the flexibility of the overall power system. As a consequence, decentralized energy resources offer numerous benefits; in particular its contributions to decarburization of the energy system, as well as reducing system losses, improving the quality of voltage and power, and reducing investments in transmission and distribution system, which all support healthy operation of the grid.
At Adm Elektrik, we manage the system connection processes of licensed and unlicensed power plants that are based on renewable energy sources and will be established in our region, in addition to online monitoring of all decentralized energy sources with a production capacity at and above 50kW to send the incoming production data to TEİAŞ (Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation) systems online.
Our consumers who wish to perform unlicensed power generation from renewable energy sources can visit https://www.admelektrik.com.tr/en/information-center/legal-notices to check the documentation we drew up so that they can quickly and easily integrate the power they generate into our distribution grid.
