ADM and GDZ Elektrik Dağıtım won an R&D Award for the ‘Smart Wristband’ they developed

ADM and GDZ Elektrik Dağıtım won an award in the Occupational Health and Safety category at the 4th R&D in Energy Workshop with the ‘Smart Wristband’ they developed, which was an important innovative step in occupational safety.

ADM and GDZ Elektrik Dağıtım strive to create value for the sector through the projects they develop and bring technology to their service areas. As such, these companies won the ‘R&D Success Award’ with the ‘Smart Wristband’ project at the R&D in Energy Workshop, which this year was organized for the 4th time with collaboration of the Power Distribution Services Association (ELDER), coordinated by the EPDK (Energy Market Regulatory Authority). Awards were granted by Mustafa Yılmaz, Chair of the EPDK. ADM and GDZ Elektrik Dağıtım works on projects to develop wearable smart technologies to improve occupational safety, aiming to prevent potential job accidents in the power distribution sector through their R&D work in this area.

A first in the sector for occupational safety: the ‘Smart Wristband’

Smart wristbands to be worn by employees protect them against potential risks during failure intervention. Acting as a detector in places with high-voltage equipment, employees will be warned visually and vibrationally. The R&D of this design belongs to ADM and GDZ Elektrik Dağıtım. It is a first in the sector and will set an example for occupational safety.

Ahmet Bayramoğlu, General Manager at ADM Elektrik Dağıtım: “The main approach in our company practices is to create value for the human and society. Everything we do focuses on the human factor. We can thus say that our project might not be large in size but it is a big innovation in terms of the results and the impact it has on our Sector and people. This project is an output of our approach to protecting the safety of life. As we have always done, we are going to keep acting responsibly and focus on R&D”.

After the ceremony, Uğur Yüksel, General Manager at GDZ Elektrik Dağıtım, emphasized the importance of R&D projects and the support given to them, saying: “We are really proud to have this award with our new project, the ‘Smart Wristband’, where we combined innovation with the value we place on humans, which we focus on in everything we do. We are setting the bar high in Occupational Health and Safety in the power distribution sector through these smart wristbands, which will be easily worn by our employees all the time. All the work to be done in this area will help prevent any kind of risk. Our employees work in the field 24/7 to offer uninterrupted power distribution services. They work in the same environment as equipment working with power, which we often call ‘live equipment’. This wristband designed under this project will warn the employee with vibration and audio signals if they get close enough to live equipment to risk their safety. The ‘Smart Wristband’ project will help us significantly prevent job accidents. Thank you to everyone who helped to achieve this.”
